November is a month which begins with the celebration of all the saints and turns to remembering the souls lost from earthly life. It also begins with the parish deadline for enrolling children for First Communion in 2018.
Application forms for Catholic children aged 7+ to make First Communion in St Philip Evans are available at all parish Masses for the remainder of October. No late applications will be accepted without a medical certificate or proof of having moved into the parish after the deadline.
Holy Day Masses for All Saints at St Philip Evans are 7 pm Tue 31 Oct and 10 am Wed 1 Nov. Other nearby options on Wed 1 Nov are: St Paul’s at 9.30 am, Christ the King 12.45 pm and St Brigid’s 7.30 pm - for Christian ideas of alternative ways of celebrating Hallowe'en, see www.NightOfLight.org
Thu 2 Nov, the Commemmoration of all the Faithful Departed is not a Day of Obligation, but a day when many people choose to remember their deceased loved ones. Parish Masses are 10 am and 7 pm.
If you have been bereaved during the last 12 months, your loved one can be remembered at our special Mass at 2 pm on Sat 18 Nov. If you would like someone's name or photo to be included, please forward the details to Geraldine Cowan firstname.lastname@example.org,
On Wednesdays 1st, 15th & 29th November, there will be city centre sessions for anyone who feels conscious of bereavement. The Mostyn Room (the ground floor room adjacent to St David's Cathedral in Charles Street) will be open to the public from 11 am to 2 pm as a place of reflection. It is not only for Catholics - please invite all your friends.
