St Bernadette’s is situated in the east of the parish and is very proud of our long standing links within the parish. The school opened in 1979 and continues to have a very high demand for Catholic places in both the nursery and across the school. Over the years the school has undergone major extensions. In 2000, two classrooms were added and recently in 2010 a further two classrooms and extensive refurbishments took place.

St Bernadette’s has a very good working relationship with Pastor Gareth and Deacon Steve. Pastor Gareth leads typically six school Masses and one Reconciliation Service each year, and Deacon Steve is actively involved with some year groups. The school supports parish events through the summer fete and art competitions, Christmas fayre and by fundraising within school. The school includes news in the parish newsletter each week.

We know most parents want a good education for their children, but they also want them to be happy and to feel safe and secure. At St Bernadette’s we believe we can offer all these things. We pride ourselves on the broad, balanced and full Catholic education we provide from the Foundation Phase to the end of Key Stage 2, and the high standards of the teaching and learning are a credit to the hard work of both staff and pupils. We value all our pupils and believe their time in school should be rewarding and fulfilling. Many visitors to the school comment on the warm welcome they receive and the politeness and maturity of our pupils. The school’s last inspection was in 2013, when the Archdiocese of Cardiff found religious provision to be excellent, and Estyn found the school to be Good in both its current provision and prospects for improvement.

The school has a detailed website that gives an insight into life at St Bernadette’s, if you are interested to know more about us please visit:
